 Will Smith is Hollywood's biggest money earner pulling in a
record $80 million for himself.
Johnny Depp, came in a close second making just over $72 million.
Third, fourth and fifth place goes to
Leonardo DiCaprio,
Eddie Murphy and
Mike Meyers, they
each pocketed about $55 million. Men generally make twice as
much as women
in Hollywood. Yet
Cameron Diaz made $50 million. We don't
think she's complaining.
Will's most
memorable television role was in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
He's acclaimed for his film acting such as Agent J in
Men in Black 1 and 2, Muhammad Ali in Ali.
One of his most memorable roles was in the blockbuster

 Heath Ledger
in the role as the Joker in The Dark Knight
won the 2009 Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Ledger died of an accidental
overdose in January at age 28.
The movie grossed the most money
by a film released internationally by making the most money in
the least amount of time. The Dark Knight stands to broke the 600 million record by Titanic
and the 315 million record by Iron Man.

Leonardo DiCaprio
was offered the role of the
porn star Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights (1997) at around the same
time as he was offered his role in Titanic (1997). The Dirk Diggler
role eventually went to
Mark Walhberg while super star status
came to DiCaprio playing Jack Dawson in Titanic the highest grossing film ever, tied with Ben-Hur (1959) for most
Academy Awards, though Leonardo himself
was not nominated.

Cameron Diaz
seemed to come out of nowhere when she made her 1994
screen debut opposite
Jim Carrey
in The Mask. Cameron Diaz runs the
gamut from action movie flicks like Charlie's Angel's to more
serious roles like in Gangs of New York and even voice animation in
Shrek. Cameron has become one of Hollywood's most powerful and
highest paid actresses. Cameron Diaz made $50 million in one year the
Shrek and What Happens in Vegas earns her the title of top-earning
female in the movie business. Her personal life also makes the movie
news headlines. Cameron has dated
Matt Dillon
and
Jared Leto.
She also dated pop star Justin Timberlake for nearly four years.
Mickey Rourke
wins a
Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion
Picture-Drama at the Golden Globes for his portrayal of Randy “The
Ram” Robinson in "The Wrestler" Mickey was also
nominated for the 2009
Best Actor Oscar which was won by Sean Penn.

2010 -"Avatar" cost $300 million and brought home a record
$2.5 billion. "The Hurt Locker" $15 million production cost and
box-office take of $19.3 million is the lowest take for any Best
Picture. James Cameron cheered when "The Hurt Lockers" Kathryn
Bigelow - his wife from 1989 to 1991 won for original screenplay,
sound editing, film editing and sound mixing. "Avatar" won for art
direction, cinematography and visual effects.
Who Decides the Nominees and Winners? Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences has about 6,000 members broken into 15
branches. Each branch is responsible for the nominations within
their category. For example, the Academy Actors branch decides
nominations for categories that involve the Best Actor or Best
Actress. The only exception to this rule is the Best Picture
category, which all members help nominate. Voting for the actual
winners is done by all Academy members.
